Exclusive news on well...The Exclusives

Evening bloggers. Tonight I am blogging while watching my current favourite programme, The Exclusives, which is shown at 9pm on ITV2.

This week, the six aspiring journalists are still competing for their dream job, but their assignment is slightly different from last time, where they experienced working at More! magazine. Tonight, they join the editorial team at rock mag Kerrang!, and are given the task of interviewing two up-and-coming bands.
I must say, this magazine is far more 'up my street,' so I have been very much looking forward to this episode.
Apart from the inevitable never ending adverts for sofas, beauty products and alcohol, the episode got off to a good start with the budding journalists having the task of going out on vox-pops - something every journalist who has ever done work experience will be completely  sick of  used to.
The six were split into two teams and one lucky rookie from each team then got the chance to interview Charlie Simpson from Busted and more notably on the rock scene, Fightstar. While the others bickered, Stuart from team 1 and cocky Christopher from team 2 really sunk their teeth into the rockstar. Having done their research (minus a couple of blips) the two really did carry out successful interviews with Charlie, who seemed impressed with the interviewers' delivery.
The journo's then were asked to do a photoshoot with two rock bands Demonic and Welsh rockers The Blackout, one of my personal favourites. The Blackout provided the team with a long shopping list to keep their taste buds happy, but 'Demonic,' who met team 2 in a tattoo parlour,  gave the rookies some slightly different requests, asking them to wear gothic make-up and making Felix look 'more mosh than posh.'
Both teams worked hard to win 'Rookie of the week' and definitely stepped up and in some cases even grew up, to wrap up their photo-shoots efficiently.
Then came the more difficult task, as two lucky journo's got to interview the bands for a feature which will be going into the next Kerrang! magazine. They were told to be ask questions specific to the readership of Kerrang! and therefore asked 'who leaves more s**t stains in the loo'... interesting choice there.
Describing the music as being 'very loud' and sounding like 'a monster,' the rookies slightly struggled with their feature for Kerrang! Team work went to pot, as Stuart wrote most of the article himself.
However, the final features were more successful and were assessed for their flair, content and style of writing. Mentors Abby and Hannah decided that Ellie was Rookie of the Week, as her confidence and accuracy during all tasks shone through.
Net week is the end of the road for one of the rookies, but who is going to crash and burn with the next set of tasks? Next week's The Exclusives will be hot off the press at the same time on ITV2 next week. Will you be tuning in or zoning out? I think I'm slightly hooked!

The Exclusives

Thursday saw the pilot episode of  The Exclusives, a reality show surrounding six wannabe Reporters who are all competing for the job of a lifetime. Considering he fact that I'm an aspiring Journalist myself, I could tell right from the offset that this programme was right up my street. Chris, Ellie, Felix, Hayley, Stuart, and Sunny all have their hearts on not only being celebrity journalists, but actually working with one of Europe's largest magazine publishers.

The six, who were successfully chosen to be candidates for this once in a lifetime opportunity, will compete even further, interviewing celebrities on the red carpet, organising celebrity photo shoots and ultimately, showing that they should land their dream job over anyone else.

But only one can win, and Thursday's episode began the process of separating the men from the boys, when they had to show off their skills to teen magazine More! All sorts of nightmare situations occurred, such as Felix, who forgot to turn his dictaphone on (rookie mistake) and Stuart, who spent the whole morning with the boys from Made in Chelsea, not having a clue who they were.

The stupidity of these budding journalists became extremely apparent when on the red carpet, Sunny screeched at celebrity interview targets while Hayley spoke to Mitch Winehouse about his late daughter Amy.

But we all need to make mistakes to learn from them, so I think it's fair to say that we should give this ambitious lot a second chance, don't you think?

Cabin in the Woods

So my latest venture to the cinema was a highly unsuccessful one. Not only did I not choose to see The Avengers, but I chose to see Cabin in the Woods. Okay, enough joking around. This is no laughing matter, seriously.
After seeing the trailer for Cabin in the Woods, I was one hundred percent sure that the film was made for me. I am a thrill seeker at heart, always waiting for that latest horror to be made that is actually good. However, the last few years have been very disappointing. When a horror is released, it is either a cheesy teen 'horror' or it's one of those paranormal let-downs - Cabin in the Woods was unfortunately both of these things, I previously didn't know this was possible.

If I could describe the film in two words, to put it bluntly, I would call it absolute crap. Usually, I would ask you, my readers, to go and see for yourself, as I am often very critical of the horror genre. However, this time, I will genuinely say, please don't waste your time or money.
Here is my warning, don't be fooled by the amazing trailer, it is most certainly not as good as it makes out. I must say I was highly unimpressed. Starting off with your stereotypical teens going on a road trip to stay in a cabin in the woods, the film looked slightly positive. Yet, as the film went on and the CGI got increasingly worse, I simply gave up.
So if you fancy a trip to the cinema this month, make it worth it by seeing a film which doesn't seem to be made by a twelve year old.

Masquerade Madness

As promised, all of my blog posts this month are going to be about the latest trends and must-have clothes for this summer.


But, this post is going to be a little different, as I will be showing you my latest purchases... for a summer party.. but not just any party.


For my friend's 21st, the theme is Masquerade and I have been searching long and hard for the perfect outfit for the special occasion. 


The dress was simple. What's better than a dramatic red dress? So, I chose this timeless classic from BANK Fashion...

and I haven't stopped posing in the mirror ever since!

However, the difficult choice came when I had to choose a mask to match. Obviously I wanted a daring, vibrant one, but with so many to choose from, which one would I choose?

When the box arrived this morning, I opened it and gasped. 

The mask that I ordered from no other than eBay was more beautiful than I imagined! Yes, it's over the top, but that's me! The gorgeous black silk is flattered by the red fabric patterns and the black and red feathers decoratively growing out of the red rose. So, I was very pleased , to say the least!

This is where you come in.

WHAT SHOES?!

Considering I used to work in a shoe shop, you'd think I'd have every pair of shoes under the sun. But what girl has enough shoes?!


I was thinking black, to bring out the gorgeous black detail in the mask. 

Or maybe black and red, to stay away from the safe black shoe?

Fashion Month

Hello everyone!
My blog this month is going to be all about fashion, from my latest purchases to must-have's for your summer wardrobe.

A very important package arrived today, a package full of summer clothes that I just cannot wait to find the excuse to wear.
But before this arrived, something else important had to happen first which was a sort out of old clothes - dun dun duuun. Everyone who knows me, knows that what I love the most is clothes shopping, but what I hate the most is parting with any of my old clothes. However, as my wardrobe was bulging and my drawers reached a new level of full, I decided it was time to face the bin bags.
So after an upsetting ordeal, (I'd prefer not to talk about it) I finally had room for some new beautiful clothes to brighten up my wardrobe and fill up my drawers again, of course.

So, onto the package...
I know you want to know what was inside, so here you go. It's a little bit black and white at the moment, but all month I am going to be filling you in on my latest buys, so let me know what you think!

No more Harry Potter jokes...This is Sirius.

So, who would have expected Daniel Radcliffe to make such a drastic move from good old Harry Potter to....wait.. a Horror film?! Not me, that's for sure. 

I have no doubt that you all remember him in The Philosopher's Stone, twirling around on a broomstick with not one facial hair in sight. But how times change! 

Sitting in the local cinema with popcorn in my hand, I witnessed Mr Radcliffe himself make his transition, from a boy to a man; all in the space of ninety-five minutes - and this time, there was no Quidditch in sight.

Therefore, I think the jury was out before the film was even released, with people saying how Daniel couldn't possibly pull this off, as it is oh so different from his 'inescapable' role as Harry Potter. But were we all wrong?


The Woman in Black has been classed as a supernatural horror-thriller. It is directed b James Watkins and written by Jane Goldman. It is also based on Susan Hill's novel of the same name, which was published in 1982. 


Daniel Radcliffe plays Arthur Kipps, a young solicitor who is still haunted by his wife's death while giving birth to their only son. He is summoned to a small market town to attend to the funeral of Mrs. Alice Drablow, an elderly widow who lived alone in the desolate and secluded Eel Marsh House. The house is completely cut-off from the mainland at high-tide, and of course, Mr Kipps feels the need to stay there for a few nights, to investigate Mrs Drablow further, after he sees a pale woman dressed in black at her funeral.


This is followed b a series of unfortunate events. Some people die and there are some freaky dolls here and there. I may just be critical, but I wouldn't say it is the most sophisticated story-line in the world. But all jokes aside, I thoroughly enjoyed this chilling film, and would recommend it to anyone (apart from the faint-hearted)


The Woman in Black captured my imagination, and literally had me on the edge of my seat, with my popcorn all over the floor; as I continued to jump at every loud noise and shiver at every chilling graveyard scene.
Although Daniel Radcliffe in my eyes isn't the best actor in the world, this film really did show how his acting has improved and matured since the early days of his career. 

Any interview with Potter, oh I mean, Radcliffe...shows how hard this young actor is fiercely trying to prove his critics wrong. So please ignore my sarcastic humour, because even I will admit that he really does prove them wrong! 

So leave all of your critical thoughts at home and prepare yourself for a great film, that really doesn't need Voldermort to make it scary...
