Little Mix and their race for Christmas Number 1!

Just a week ago, Little Mix triumphed in the competitive talent show, The X Factor, beating singing favourites such as Janet Devlin, Misha B, and finalist, Marcus Collins.

They successfully landed their place at the top of the charts this week, with  their cover release of Damien Rice's Cannonball.
Now however, the question is, are Little Mix able to handle the fierce competition for Christmas number 1?
Other condenders for the number 1 spot include a group of soldiers' wives, who are predicted to steal the limelight away from Little Mix, and knock The X Factor off their tracks!

The group of women, who were formed by Choir Master Gareth Malone, are called the Military Wives Choir, and are becoming increasingly popular with the British public.
Bookies have been betting away, and have predicted that Little Mix might miss out on the one Christmas present they have asked for this year, to be number 1 in the charts, and it looks like their prediction might be correct, with the Anti-X Factor group reforming to make sure Little Mix stay well away from that number 1 position, that they made sure Rage Against the Machine claimed two years ago.
The news of whether Little Mix reach number 1 will finally be revealed on the Top of the Pops Christmas Special, which will be aired on December 21st at 7.30 pm.
Do you think Little Mix are going to prove everyone wrong? I have a slight feeling they will pull through, but only time will tell!

X Factor, X Factor, and more X Factor...

I have to say, this is probably the first year out of many, that I haven't really enjoyed the X Factor. It's not just me either! From what I've heard from people I've spoken to lately, everyone seems to be thinking the same thing... Why isn't the X Factor as good as usual?

I won't deny that I am a weekly viewer, as I have been a fan of the show for years, and I will catch-up if I have missed a week, but I just don't think this year's series is anywhere near as good as the previous years, and I just can't seem to pin-point why that is!
Obviously, this year we are missing Simon Cowell, which, to me, is a massive let down. But I don't think it's the judges that are necessarily the problem, after all, Mr Cowell (my hero) has been replaced with a pretty good panel of celebrity judges, and I have to say, (apart from Tulisa) I think they have all done a pretty good job, at not only judging this year's contestants, but also bringing that element of comedy to the show.
Kelly Rowland has been a God send this year, with her brilliant humour and witty attitude making me want to watch the show every week. Gary Barlow has also filled Simon's role well, by being the judge who tells the truth about every performance, and isnt't scared to tell someone they are simply awful.
However, I hope it's not just me who thinks that this years contestants are very talented, but my God, aren't they boring!?
Don't get me wrong, I loved Janet Devlin (aka Diana Vickers) right up till a few weeks ago, when I realised that every song she sang started to sound the same, and her personality i.e. sob story had that monotonous drone...

Misha B basically had no personality whatsoever.. and this was pretty darn obvious, yet the show constantly played on the fact that she was a 'fun' person to be around, even though from what I've heard, this doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe she's a nice person, but her attitude definitely wasn't my cup of tea, or anyone else's for that matter!
I guess I ust have simply got bored of the fact that behind every act, there now has to be some sort of story behind why they're such a nice person, and why they should win this year's X Factor because they love their fans and winning would mean the world to them, blah blah blah! We all know they are going to put on a sweet smile when they're signing autographs and greeting their fans, but why do we need to sing their praises week after week, after week? It seems as though the reason is to convince us that we should vote for them because they are not only talented, but that we would be able to enjoy a cup of tea and a biscuit with them!?
Maybe I'm being too cynical? But this year, the X Factor has been a bit of a let down for me. Not only do I not really like the contestants, they annoy me so much, that sometimes, I get the feeling that the show has become more about money than entertainment. Oh well, let's just hope that Marcus Collins wins, as in my eyes, he is the only deserving contestant left, who hasn't started to get on my nerves!
                                                                           Go Marcus!

Breaking Dawn film review.. Contains spoilers!

So, I'm guessing that many Twilight fans will now have seen Breaking Dawn part 1, which was released in Cinemas on November 18th. If you haven't, this is a warning, because this film review contains spoilers!
I went to see Breaking Dawn Part 1 last week, and since then, have not been able to stop talking about it. I don't know about you, but in my opinion, it was the best Twilight film so far.
The tagline for the film boasts that it contains the 'Wedding of the year,' and I'm sure you will all agree, every aspect of it was truly spectacular.. especially the dress!

After their fairytale wedding, Edward and Bella head off to a beautiful secluded retreat in Brazil, to consumate their marriage and show their undying love for one another. (much to the disapproval of Jacob.)
However, this is all short-lived, when Bella experiences morning sickness, and realises that she is somehow pregnant with Edwards baby.
When Bella starts to become thin and weak, it becomes clear that she is unable to accommodate the baby that is growing inside her at a rapid speed, and she soon realises that this baby doesn't want food.. it wants blood.

Near the end of the film, we think all is going to be ok, as Bella falls into a dramatic and not to mention traumatic labour! She seems to have pulled through, and smiles at the sight of her gorgeous baby girl. But in true Twilight style, something goes terribly wrong, and we are left in a state of shock, when we are led to believe Bella has died. Edward desperately tried to resuscitate her, and eventually pumps vampire venom into her failing heart, but has no luck, as Bella doesn't react to his numerous attempts at bringing her back to life. However, as the camera draws closer to Bella's face, we realise that human Bella is no more, and her wish to be changed into a vampire has finally been granted, but will this have disastrous consequences? We will have to wait and see, and trust me, it's a long wait! I think I'll be reaching for the Breaking Dawn book before my Twilight withdrawal symptoms get any worse!

Children in Need.

Last night, 'Children in Need Rocks Manchester' was broadcast live on BBC 1 and Radio 1, to raise money for Children in Need in the UK. Their website states 'Thanks to the support of the public, we're able to make a real difference to the lives of children all across the UK.' So with that in mind, I turned BBC 1 on at 8pm.

I was happy to see that, not only was the programme set up for such a good cause, but they had really made the effort to raise money for the charity, by providing the public with some of the biggest and best musicians around.

My paws were up for Lady Gaga, who, as always, stormed the stage with her outstanding peformance of 'The Edge of Glory,' 'Born this Way,' and her new single 'Marry the Night,' which she also performed on the X Factor on Sunday night.

She was then followed by many other acts, including Elbow, Ed Sheeran and JLS. But the one act who stood out for me was Coldplay, who sang their new single 'Paradise' and who, along with Lady Gaga, stole the show.

Did you enjoy the Chilren in Need Rocks programme? If you did, or if you just want to donate to a very important cause, and haven't already done so, please spare a minute of your time and donate to Children in Need here at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/donate/

Your kind donation will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Less than 24 hours to go....Breaking Dawn Part 1!

Last night saw the Breaking Dawn Premiere hit London, and of course the audience were ready and waiting to see what their favourite star Kristen Stewart was wearing. Of course, she impressed, but what else would we expect? She is always looking beautiful, and last night was no exception. I think my favourite thing about Miss Stewart is her laid-back manner, and the fact that she really doesn't seem to care what people think or say about her. When I think of a London film premiere, I think of the gorgeous dresses, jewellery, and of course, shoes. But I wasn't in the least bit surprised to see Kristen in a pair of... Nike Trainers.
Yes, thats right. Trainers. At least they're a label, right? To be honest, I can't say I blame her for teaming her Roberto Cavalli dress with the more... comfortable option. This isn't the first time she has worn trainers on the red carpet, though, and her reason for choosing the trainers is not just for comfort, but simply because she will be able to greet as many of her fans as possible. How cute can this girl possibly get?
However, when she posed for pictures with co-stars, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, she quickly threw on some heels, to complete her stunning look.
Anyway, as you know, there is less than 24 hours to go 'till the release of Breaking Dawn Part 1! I'm so excited, I think I'm going to burst! Have you booked your tickets yet? I know I have! All I have to decide now is, what shoes am I going to wear?!

The Towie attacks continue!

The recent news that sisters Sam and Billie Faiers were beaten and robbed came as quite a shock, not only to the cast of The Only Way is Essex, but to the public, too. The sweet and innocent sisters were attacked on the same night, and are still recovering their cuts and bruises since the incident.

Today, however, news has arisen that Towie's newcomer, Kurt Evans, 18, has been violently attacked on his doorstep in Croydon. Kurt entered the series just last week, appearing as Harry Derbidge's new love interest, and has already felt the reality of being in such a popular TV series. Kurt tweeted, 'I just want to say thank you for all the beautiful messages after being attacked! I just got home and all I want is cuddles!!! :'(,'

The 18-year-old was beaten up by five men, who left him in agony and barely able to walk when he turned up to filming for the show the next day, where he was told to go home because of the state he was in.
The incidents seem to be building up for this unfortunate cast, but with the current series finishing on Wednesday, will this mean the end of the voilent attacks?

Breaking Dawn Trailer...(Goosebumps!)

It has to be said, Breaking Dawn looks.... incredible!
The Twilight Saga has been an obsession of mine for a few years now, and since I watched the first film, I have bought all the DVD's, t-shirts, mugs (Yes, mugs!) and anything else they possibly sell with Edward's gorgeous face on it!
The Twilight Saga is, however, coming to an end, (wipe tears) but luckily, the last instalment of the films is split into two parts, just like Harry Potter and the Deatlhy Hallows (another one of my favourites!) So, for us lucky fans, Twilight isn't quite over yet, and the splitting up of Breaking Dawn into two parts will make it last just that little tiny bit longer! The only negative? We have to wait to see Part 2! (As if we haven't been waiting long enough for this film?!)
Enough of my complaining, as you can tell, I am a dedicated Twilight fan, and even if you aren't, watching the trailer above may just convert you!
I was convinced that Eclipse was the best Twilight film, but am I going to be proven wrong? We will have to wait and see, but not for long! Breaking Dawn Part 1 is out in cinemas on the 18th November.
If the tickets are sold out, it's probably because I bought them all!

Oh dear, Adele.

It was only a few months ago that fans had started gathering outside The Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff, when Adele announced that she wouldn't be able to make it to the venue due to throat troubles. Adele, 23, promosed that she would be back in the Capital City when another tour date was arranged.

However, recent news reports have announced this is no longer the case, and that Adele has cancelled all of her remaining live dates and promotional appearances in 2011, after continuously suffering with problems with her voice, which is not a good sign for a successful singer, like Adele!

Adele's website now states that she has been ordered by doctors to 'rest her voice and completely rcuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments' after undergoing surgery to 'alleviate problems with her throat.'

Adele said "I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever." But the statement added that Adele was set to make a full recovery from her operation, which must be a huge relief for the star.

On her blog, Adele said "I've been offered the chance to not tour at all to save anything like this from happening again, but I simply hate letting you down."

Let's hope Adele makes a speedy recovery, so we can continue seeing live performances from one of our favourite artists. Get well soon Adele!

Gaddafi, and his public death.

Gaddafi's brutal regime has finally come to an end, and Libya celebrates his death.

Statements like this have been circulating in the newspapers this week, and it is impossible to open a paper, without seeing Gaddafi's dead body staring you in the face. In fact, what I've just said is wrong, you don't even have to open the newspapers, as his blood-covered body is in clear view, on every front page.
I am in no way in support of Gadaffi's horrific regime, and never would be, but don't you think the way in which his death has been publicised is slightly wrong? It might just be me thinking this, but I have a feeling that it's not just me. I'm not talking about the way he was killed, and not even necessarily the way his death has been celebrated and televised, and in newspapers, but the way in which we simply have no choice of whether to consume this media coverage, or not. Children are now exposed to this kind of news reporting every day, and in every paper. It is simply inevitable, and a child is, whether their parents like it or not, going to stumble across a picture of his dead body, and I can't help but think, what has our world come to?
Certain factors have led me to think about this extreme media coverage, one of these being my course at University, where we have been looking at Adversiting, and how the public no longer has any choice if they are going to consume advertising anymore, it is simply there, there is no way of possibly avoiding it (unless you live on a desert iisnald, of course.) I have heard many people saying 'I don't led the media affect what I buy, I choose what I purchase and nobody influences that.' But how can this be true? These days, everything is labelled, and owned by huge corporations, and even if you don't buy a can of coke, you are probably still buying a product which is produced by coca-cola. Even walking down the street, you can't possibly walk for more than 30 seconds before you see some kind of advertisement. How can you say this does not affect you? Could you really say you haven't seen an advert on the television, and gone out and bought the product? The fact that we now have no choice really angers me, and I'm very sure it angers many of you, but the Gaddafi news reporting has really got my typing this blog with aggresson!
Reading news stories about Osama Bin Laden a few months ago was nothing out of the norm. Of course there was going to be celebration of his death, and of course there was going to be a lot of news coverage, as he organised the killing of thousands of people, and some could say he deserved to die. I read that he was shot, by American forces, and watched a documentary which re-created the event. But it was nothing compared to the news coverage I have recently consumed concerning the killing of Colonel Gaddafi.
I turned on my television a few nights ago, and ITV 1 instantly appeared because of the programme I had previously been watching on the channel. As the television came on, I froze, as I was confronted with a a gruesome image of Gaddafi's dead body. The argument I have been hearing is that people need conformation of his death, especially the citizens of Libya. Isn't there another way of confirming this? I haven't to this day seen a (trustworthy) picture of Bin Laden dead, but I have read that his DNA has been confirmed. Isn't this enough? I don't understand why the British Media feel the need to flaunt disgusting, disturbing images around like there is nothing wrong with doing so. I will say it again, and I will probably keep saying it from this day forward.. What is this world coming to? All you have to do is type in the words 'Gaddafi dead' in Google and thousands of disturbing close-up images pop up. How have we reached a stage where is becomes OK for our children to be seeing images of dead bodies on the front pages of the newspapers, that are delivered through our front doors. I'd love to know your opinion on this issue. I am totally understanding of the fact that people need to know that this horrible person is finally dead. But is this really the way to do it?

A tribute to the King...

Fans of the late Michael Jackson are gathering in the centre of Cardiff at this very minute, to witness a tribute concert to the one and only King of Pop.
The Millennium stadium (which is right on my doorstep) is hosting this once in a lifetime event, and I don't have a ticket! Everyone seems to have one, and I have no idea where they are getting them from. Most people seem to be boasting of free tickets... where's mine?!
The concert is glamourosly entitled"Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert" and is hosted by the beautiful Fearne Cotton, who will be accompanied by Hollywood actor and singer, Jamie Foxx.
The star-studded line up includes Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, JLS, and Beyonce, who will appear for the crowd to see via video.
The Black-Eyed-Peas were set to perform at the tribute concert, but "unavoidable circumstances," which have rumoured to be the splitting-up of the band, have led them to not be able to make an appearance in Cardiff tonight.
Radio 1 reported earlier on today that Jackson's children have now arrived in the city, who include Prince, 14, Paris, 13, and Michael Joseph Jr., who is known as blanket.
The mother of Michael and his siblings, Katherine, is reported to be among the many thousands of people entering the stadium, along with Michael's brothers and sisters, some of which will be singing in remembrance of their brother. Katherine, Michaels mother said the concert will be "exactly the way Michael would have wanted to be remembered."
So as the crowds of fans gather outside the stadium tonight, will you be a part of the magical tribute? If I don't manage to get my hands on a spare ticket, I will definitely have my own tribute to Jackson at home, as nothing beats an MJ album and a glass of wine.
Rest in Peace Michael Jackson, as this concert will prove, you will never be forgotten as the King of Pop, and your music will live on, even if you're gone.

Rest In Peace. Memories of 9/11, from the heart.

Today, as we all know, is the 10th anniversary since the events of the 11th September 2001.
Thinking back to this day ten years ago, I can't believe how fast the time has gone. It feels like only yesterday, that I remember hearing about what had happened. I'm sure we all remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when we found out. I definitely do. I recall this day as being one of the most memorable days of my life, even though I wasn't in New York, and don't personally know anyone who was.
I have always been fond the US, I love everything American, and at this point in my life, could only dream of visiting New York. When I heard the news, that there had been suspected terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers, I was at home from school, due to illness. Eating my breakfast, I turned on the news, and from that moment on, couldn't take my eyes off the television. My mum was in work, but I needed to tell her what I'd just heard. I phoned her, and when she picked up the phone, I burst into tears.
Considering I have no family links in New York, and I didn't know of anyone I knew being there at the time, the sheer sadness I felt for what was happening really got to me. I couldn't help but think, imagine what it must feel like to know your relative was there, in New York at the time, and not knowing if they're ok.
As the day went on, and the news deepened, more and more people were reported missing and the news channel were playing devastating phone calls from people who couldn't get hold of their family, reaching out to anyone who might have information.
When I heard the news, it was hard to digest straight away, and I would even say that now, it is still digesting. I find it hard to believe that certain people were able to carry out this devastating event. They knew that day that they were going to draw an end to so many innocent lives, but still went ahead and did what they did.
There were a total of 2,996 deaths on this day, which were all caused by 19 hijackers who took control of four commercial airliners. It is hard to think of just how terrified the people in the towers must have felt, knowing that their lives could end in a matter of minutes. Some desperately tried to contact their loved ones, to tell them that they may never see them again. As I am writing this, I am so upset for those people, but it is easy to forget those who were on the planes with the hijackers, who had to face the terror of knowing that people with the intention to kill, had taken control of the plane they were flying on. The bravery of the civilians who crashed flight United 93 before it reached its target, which was suspected to have been the White House, should be remembered, as these people, through extreme fear, managed to save countless innocent lives, while ending their own.
At least 200 people fell or jumped to their deaths from the burning towers. Some made their way to the roof, hoping to be rescued by a helicopter, but the roof access doors were locked, and helicopters were prevented from aproaching the buildings, due to the smoke from the fire in the buildings.
A total of 411 emergency workers who responded to the scene died as they tried to rescue people and fight fires. More than 70 countries lost citizens in the attacks on the World Trade Center. Two people were later added to the official death toll after dying from health conditions linked to exposure to dust from the colapse of the towers.
Over 3000 children lost a parent in the events of 9/11.
On every anniversary of the collapse of the World Trade Centre, in New York City, the names of the victims who died there are read out against a background of somber music.
Show how much you care, by just take a few minutes today, to remember the lives that were lost in the 9/11 attacks. These people didn't deserve to die, and their families didn't deserve to lose them.
Every year, I will spare a thought for the events of 9/11. Rest in Peace. Forever missed, never forgotten.

Film Review: Inbetweeners Movie.

BEWARE! This is definitely NOT a film to see with your Mum and Dad!
So the question is, can the Inbetweeners successfully make it from the small screen to the cinema?
The answer: Yes!
It has been referred to as 'British Pie,' and if you have had the pleasure of seeing this masterpiece, you'll understand where this name has come from.

If I had to descibe it in a few words, I'd say it's somewhat similar to The Hangover, but of course, us Brits are a little more extreme when it comes to our drinking holidays, and the film shows this off perfectly.
If you haven't seen the series on E4, then you're missing out, but I would advise watching a few episodes before you go the cinema, as you might otherwise not expect the filthy antics and dirty one-liners.
The film is written very well, and isn't a let down at all for those who have watched the series. Of course, the goal of 'getting laid' occupies the storyline, but the mission is intensified as the boys head out on their first lad's holiday.
The characters remain the same as they were in the series, with the same hilarious qualities, which are nice and familiar for fans of the series. It becomes almost second nature to expect the characters to do what they do best, and that is to pull girls, get drunk, and then wake up and do it all again.
The film has a few gag-reflex moments, which had the audience at the cinema I was in creased over laughing, and even sighing with horror at some really vile moments. The brilliant thing about the film was how involved the audience were, and at the end, it felt like you should definitely be clapping, although I refrained, as I would probably look a bit weird!
Some scenes will have you literally crying with laughter, and I've got to say, that's what I love about The Inbetweeners gang.
I have to say, this film is a must-see. The tagline tells us that 'the boys will become men,' and this definitely wasn't the case, as they had a glimpse of the real world, but still are school boys at heart. Let's hope that there is another film to follow, as it was just too brilliantly good to be a one off!

More Work Experience..

This week, I am working at The South Wales Echo. Today was my first day at the Media Wales building, and I started the day as I usually do, by making a fool out of myself. Walking into the window thinking it was an open door is pretty much now at the top of my 'embarrassing moments' list, but of course throughout the day, something else was obviously going to happen to me and my clumsy self.
I expected to be amongst other students who were also on work experience, but little did I know, the girl who arrived in the morning was someone from my course in Uni, and I was none the wiser! (I definitely need to stop looking at the floor when I walk.)
In the morning, I was pretty much left alone to get used to the computer system, and my little corner in the news room.
Then, after lunch, I was approached by a reporter, who asked me to go out and do a 'Vox Pop,' which in Journalism world means, or in my simple terms means... going out on to the street and pestering randomers.
Many passers by definitely didn't want to be interviewed, and many more didn't want their picture taken at the end of the interview, which made my job that little bit harder, as everything I had previously interviewed them about, was now useless to the paper without a picture.
I went back to the newsroom with my best of efforts, which seemed to make the reporter happy.
All was well, until I went to the toilet. I will explain the problem with my skirt before I tell you the punch line, other wise it will definitely not make any sense. I bought a skirt especially for work experience. I should have known this was a mistake, as whenever I wear a new item of clothing for a special occasion or important event, something always, always goes wrong.
Every time I went to the toilet, (my bladder is very weak, and I drink a lot of tea) my skirt would get totally tangled and I would be in the cubicle for an extra five minutes, trying to sort it out.
However, I was in a rush, and left the toilet quickly without checking for skirt disasters in the mirror, and of course, I only walked across the massive newsroom, with my skirt inside out, (I don't even know how this happened) but not only inside out, it was also upside down, AND tucked in my knickers.
So I think the ground should come and swallow me up before I go back to work tomorrow. If it doesn't, I will be back to fill you in with some more (unavoidable and typical) embarrassing incidents later on in the week!

Happy Birthday Uncle John!

Tonight, I am going out for a meal with my family and my boyfriend, for my Uncle John's 60th Birthday, (Happy birthday Uncle John!!) at Villa Napoli, which is better known as The Glendale, is my favourite place to eat. Not only does it provide a lovely environment for an enjoyable family meal, it also provides the best food..EVER.
I have always enjoyed my food.. perhaps a bit more than people usually do. So a meal at the local Italian restuarant comes at the top of my favourite things to do, along with having a meal at Nando's, a meal at McDonalds, and not forgetting, a meal at KFC.
Of course, the local Italian is a bit classier than the places listed above, so rather than jeans and a t-shirt, I am currently blow-drying my favourite dress, as I only remembered to wash it about two hours ago, because, that's just me all over.
So I hope you all enjoy your night, whatever you may be doing. I will be filling my face with Spaghetti Carbonara and chocolate cake. Luckily my dress is made out of an elasticated material, as tonight, I am allowing for a lot of stomach expansion.

Baby Beyonce!

Beyonce Knowles, one of our favourite pop stars, has recently announced some brilliant news.  On the red carpet of the MTV Music Video awards, Beyonce informed reporters that she and her husband Jay-Z are pregnant with their first child.
After her brilliant performance of her new song 'Love on top' which is a single from the hit Album '4,' Beyonce said "I want you to feel the love that's growing inside me." She then unbuttoned her jacket and rubbed her belly.

Beyonce, 29, has recently said that she feels that she is ready to settle down, to start thinking about forming a family with rapper husband Jay-Z, and after winning 16 Grammy awards in her career, it is not surprising that she feels as if she should make having a family her priority.
The Daily Mail reported that while speaking to Piers Morgan in June, Beyonce hinted that herself and Jay-Z may have been trying for a baby, saying that "I always said I was going to have a baby at 30. I'm 29 now."
The news came as a lovely surprise to Beyonce fans, but does this mean that our favourite singer is close to retirement?  Apparently not. When talking about the possibility of a family, Beyonce stated “I am not retiring, I tell you.” Hopefully, we still have many years of Beyonce filled charts to come! If not, I'm not sure what we're going to do without our booty shaking idol! Maybe Beyonce's children will follow in her footsteps... we can only hope!

X Factor - Controversy for Contostavlos!

So did anyone watch X Factor on Saturday night? I definitely did! In fact, it has been the hot topic between me and, well, anyone I can possibly talk to about it!
The new judges are, in my opinion, brilliant. I went to see the X Factor auditions live in Cardiff a few months ago and didn't expect much at all from a judging panel including the never quitting Louis Walsh and the new line up of Tulisa Contostavlos (N-Dubz,) Gary Barlow (Take That,) and Kelly Rowland (Destiny's Child.) But obviously, I was mistaken.
The judges make the X Factor even funnier and more exciting than before, although Simon Cowell will be missed, but I'm sure he won't fail to make a come back at some point in the series.
Saturday's show was kicked off with an array of singing geniuses including Janet Devlin , a sixteen year old girl who sang 'Your Song' so beautifully that is brought tears to my eyes.
Along with the talent that surprised Saturday's audience, there was inevitably the let down performances. In other words, the people who think they can sing, but they really can't.
The most memorable performance of Saturday's show was of course an audition with some well loved drama included,  man named George Gerasimou, who claimed to have calmed down since the last time he auditioned for the X Factor in 2009, when he lost his temper with Simon Cowell, famously telling him to 'shut up'. However, George's performance proved that he had not changed at all, when he was stopped half way through his audition, his fiery temper came back with a vengeance.
George turned to Tulisa, saying “Why did you stop the music. Who are you? You’re just someone trying to replace Cheryl Cole." This obviously is not the right thing to say to the N-Dubz singer, who hit back saying: "I don't think your attitude has changed at all. You came and stood right next to me, and I felt a lot of aggression off you. You're very angry. It's not a good vibe.” Contostavlos continued, "You’re here to be judged, and you know what you’ve just done? You’ve embarrassed yourself to the entire nation. I worked myself up from Camden Town and that’s why I’m here today."
At this point in the show, I probably wasn't the only person jumping up out of their seat at home, shouting "Go Tulisa" at the TV screen.
She later admitted that "If it was 10 years ago I would have, (hit him) but I'm an X Factor judge now and I'm not allowed to do things like that."
Let's hope poor Tulisa doesn't get anymore comments about being Cheryl Cole's replacement, as it really seemed to hit her where it hurt, but can you blame her? She has been accused of copying Cheryl's clothes, shoes and hairstyles.
I, for one, will be looking forward to next week's show, and if it contains auditions like last weeks, it will definitely be one to watch!

The horror genre at it's very best!

Is it just me, or is the horror genre going seriously down-hill lately? That was my opinion for a long time, with previous let downs including Scream, Paranormal Activity, and not to mention the final Saw movie which I'm sure used pink blood. Anyway, I might be a little critical, as I am an avid watcher of the classic horror movies that never fail to make my hair stand on end.
But, and this is a big but, (hence the underline)... If you haven't seen the film Orphan yet, I suggest that you should grab some popcorn, turn your lights off, shut your curtains, and prepare yourself for one hell of a creepy film!
One of my best mates told me about Orphan, and as she knows how much I love my horror films, said it was a 'must see.' She, however, isn't a lover of the horror genre, so I did have my suspicions about how scary it was going to be, as it takes a lot to keep me interested when it comes to horror films, my belief about them is pretty much, no gore = no enjoyment. To my surprise though, Orphan is one of the best horror films I have seen in a while, and it didn't even need to use gore to keep me glued to the TV screen.
I think one of the reasons why the film is so unbelievably good is that you really feel an intimate interaction with the characters which adds to your involvement and sympathy as they sadly lost their third child, so choose to adopt from an orphanage,  thinking that another child is what is missing from their life. After the adoption, however,  their family begins to fall apart, when the adopted child, Esther, turns out to be nothing like what they previously thought.
If you don't believe me, just take a look at this picture:

I'm not going to spoil the film for you, because I really do believe it is worth a watch, but let me tell you this, the twist towards the end of the film is amazing, and left me totally baffled, which doesn't happen very often.
The storyline is perfect, however, with a perfect family as the main protagonists, and unlike the typical horror, Orphan really lets you get involved with the family's life and makes you feel like you know them personally. It doesn't simply just jump into an unrealistic relationship between a couple, where you just know that one of them is going to get their head cut off at some point.
When the cracks start appearing in the family's life, you can't help but feel emotional for them, and the wife especially, who had her suspicions about Ester right from the start. When Esther starts showing her true colours, by hurting the other children, and turning the husband and wife against eachother, the film really does have you on the edge of your seat. How could a nine year old girl be so scary? When you see it for yourself, you will definitely believe me. It really is one of those films that makes you scared of what's behind your shower curtain!
So give this one a chance, I'm pretty sure it won't let you down! Just remember, this film is not for the faint hearted, but if you really want to be hiding behind a cushion, this is the film for you.

'Swagger Jagger' or no swagger at all?

Cher Lloyd... When these two words were mentioned, I used to defend the X Factor finalist, by saying how talented and different she was. Notice that I just used the word WAS.
Her new song, 'Swagger Jagger,' is in my opinion, awful.. to the extent that I will no longer defend her individualitty, as she now seems to have blended in with the other 'talented' music artists that we all have to put up with 24/7, i.e. Justin Bieber.
'Swagger Jagger' ruined my life a few weeks ago, when I first heard it, and turned the volume down immediately, before I turned it off.
So you may ask, why are you writing a blog about a song you hate so much?! Well here's why... Its reached number one. Yes, it has topped the charts! How? I have no idea!
If you haven't heard the song, you may think I'm being slightly harsh. If you think that, please  listen to the song, then you will understand.
It's not all bad though, I have to say, Miss Lloyd is looking exceptionally gorgeous in the video for 'Swagger Jagger,' with her brightly coloured clothes and make-up, you have to admit she's a beautiful girl, with a 'Swagger Jagger' attitude and style, whatever that's supposed to mean.
Let's just hope that chavvy but lovely Cher can come back with a single that is slightly easier on the ears, until then, I unfortunately won't be buying her Debut album! Sorry, Cher!

Clearly, a lot of you out there disagree with my humble opinion. Why not take a look at her YouTube channel at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdbyG2MrBHk&ob=av2e, then let me know what you think!

I'm back... with reviews, obviously!

Hello Bloggers! I have been on holiday, hence why my blogs have been minimal!
I have been back for a week now, and the 'being home blues' have well and truly kicked in. If I could just pack my bags and move abroad, trust me, I would. But when I'm away, I often get home sick.. If that makes sense, well done for understanding. You're one of the few who do.
Anyway, I have been reliving my holiday by listening to some of the songs that made it what it was, a holiday of a lifetime. Of course, I have been listening to them very loudly in my car, with the on and off lovely weather making Wales feel slightly more tropical.
When I was bored of raving to Ibiza anthems, I decided to have a bit of a cool down, by purchasing The Foo Fighters new CD, Wasting Light. I have to say, I was IMPRESSED! I have always been a lover of rock, but lately, my cravings for some good drumming have got the better of me, and my Itunes collection is starting to consist of AC/DC, Muse and of course, my favouries, The Rolling Stones.
So if you fancy a good old rock out, go to HMV and get Wasting Light for an amazing £7, I promise you won't regret it.

Who has the X Factor?

Last week, for my boyfriends 21st birthday, I decided to see what was on in Cardiff, to take him somewhere different, for an experience he would never forget. As there wasn't many things that took my fancy, I decided on a priceless day out, to the X Factor Live auditions. Of course, we didn't go there to audition ourselves. That would be terrible, and we would definitely appear on tv as the worst singers going. We in fact went to watch the auditionees singing live for their opportunity to get through to 'boot camp.'Although I know how much of a set up the X Factor actually is, with the auditionees pretending to do their first audition when it is probably more likely their fourth or fifth, it was still interesting to see how the programme itself is actually organised and constructed. May I add though that being in the audience of Britain's Got Talent is far more fun, as you can boo people off the stage and the whole thing seems a little less, shall I say, fixed.
A wonderful surprise when in the audience of the X Factor was the new and improved judging panel! I had a feeling that the new judges were going to be a huge let down, but I was totally wrong, as Gary Barlow (from Take That), Kelly Rowland (Destiny's Child), Tulisa Contostavlos (N-Dubz) and the good old Louis Walsh took the show by storm by making the crowd hysterical and shocked at times! My personal favourite judge had to be Kelly Rowland.I have loved her since I was a small child, and her sense of humour will never cease to amaze me, with her witty one liners and fantastic typically American comments, she definitely made the show for me.
We had such a fantastic day out, followed by a McDonalds and a night of barbecue food, chocolate fountains and sunshine, accompanied by some wonderful friends and family. A great day out, and a lovely birthday treat. I do hope to go back when the X Factor is in Cardiff again, but next time, I will be on the stage. Only joking, I wouldn't do that to your ears.

Glastonbury at it's best!

So, if you weren't at glastonbury this year, my guess is that you were probably watching it at home. I certainly was..and what a line up! From U2, to Beyonce, this year was definitely a big success!
I watched it from start to finish, without missing an act, as I usually do, and was pleasantly surprised at how good some of the acts actually were. One of my favourites of the whole festival was Two Door Cinema Club. Although they aren't very well known yet, I have a feeling they are going to be huge, with their catchy songs and lyrics slowly attracting the nation.
I also have to mention Coldplay, one of my all time favourite bands, who performed to ttheir usual amazing standard, truly lighting up the Pyramid stage to it's true potential.
Sunday was finished with a bang, however, as Beyonce took to the stage. Having not heard from the global superstar in a while, I must admit I was quite sceptical of her new material, but was, of course, proved totally wrong. From the minute she stepped up on stage, she gave it her all. Her voice was outstanding as usual and her new songs were surprisingly fabulous! I was slightly disappointed that Michelle and Kelly from Destiny's Child couldn't be there to perform a few nostalgic numbers with Beyonce, but undoubtedly, she sang the songs beautifully reminiscent of the prime days of  the band themselves.
Beyonce's dancing was true to form, and it is clear that the woman has not aged, at all, making every girl out there jealous of her perfect voice, figure and dance moves. Of course, Beyonce, with her all female band, was there to remind us that we, as women, should all be independent and strong, just like the star herself.
Leaving the stage with the words 'Love y'all, holla!' We have all been reminded of our love for Beyonce. I hope she is successful in the future with her new album, as if she comes to the UK, I will now be one of the first to buy a ticket! You go girl!

R.I.P Ryan Dunn

Yesterday, news of Jackass star, Ryan Dunn's death started to circulate.
The Jackass Crew said 'Ryan will be missed and remembereed by us all,' as they spoke about Dunn's tragic death, which took place in the early hours of the morning on 20th June 2011.
Dunn was killed in a car crash in West Goshen, Pennsylvania, which was announced solemly by his co-star Johnny Knoxville, who said 'Our brother Ryan Dunn has passed...Goddamn, that's tough to write.' Knoxville also tweeted in memory of one of his best friends. The tweet said 'RIP Ryan, I love you buddy.'
Dunn's fans also expressed their sadness on MTV.com, flooding their site with messages such as 'We will never forget all the laughs you gave us.'
The man who touched so many lives will be forever remembered, a comedy genius, who is said to be 'pranking god now.'

Ouch.

Today is my complaining day. As everyone who has seen me today knows, I have not been in the best of moods. The day started off with a terrible sleep, consisting of waking up at 5 am with agonising sunburn from yesterday's day at the beach with the girls.
As if my mood couldn't get any worse, last night also consisted of a lot of alcohol, which means, many trips to the toilet after taking the slightest sip of water. Everytime I caught a scent of any kind of food this morning, my food from the previous night came back up to haunt me... lovely, I know.
At half past ten, I couldn't take it any longer. I rang the girls and organised an outing to KFC, as nothing better beats a hangover. Four cheesy BBQ rollers later, I was feeling good, but still craving everything and anything that I set my eyes on, including many packets of crisps, chocolate milkshakes and pizza.
It's a shame about the sunburn though, as looking like a tomato isn't the most attractive thing in the world, and neither is going out in your pyjamas because you simply can't be bothered to get dressed.

Beat of my drum..

Well well well! Who would have thought the ginger one from Girls Aloud would release such a good solo song!? Nicola Roberts was always my personal favourite.. (probably because of her hair colour) but who knew she could actually sing and dance? I definitely didn't!
Her new song Beat of My Drum has pretty much proved all of her critics wrong, with her quirky dance routine and not to forget the fantastic song itself which draws comparison to the likes of Gwen Stefani's Hollaback Girl.
It is simply brilliant to hear a great song come from the members of Girls Aloud's solo careers, as in my eyes, Cheryl Cole pretty much fell face first with some of her releases.
Beat of My Drum is a little bit crazy to say the least, but gives us a taste of Nicola's personality, which is nice to see since she was perhaps the most overlooked member of Girls Aloud. Now I realise what a shame that was, because her unique voice is finally able to shine through, without Nadine Coyle stealing the limelight!
Roberts' debut solo album Cinderella's Eyes is due to be released this summer, and after hearing her first single from the album, I can't wait to hear some more! Team Ginge!

A day in the life of me..

Considering that I see shopping as hard work, this week has definitely taken been a long one and has taken it out of me to say the least! Yesterday, I even fell asleep for three hours on the sofa, only to go to bed at half ten and have no problems sleeping Waking up at nine this morning was hard going... Not only was I up too early to be in the mood for breakfast, I was up too early for Jeremy Kyle, and caught the end of Lorraine! That is just not on!
I have to admit though, this week has been a long one. Monday was a day of nerves, as my tattoo was Tuesday morning. What I was scared about, was the pain, and I'm not going to lie, it hurt. A lot. But luckily that doesn't bother me now, as I have a B-E-A-utiful tattoo that I am very happy with. I can't stop looking at it, I think I'm scared it's going to rub off or just simply disappear! It might sound stupid but it's actually hard to believe it's on my body, and I absolutely love it, and it was definitely worth the pain! Eventhough whilst having it, I probably broke my friends hand... sorry Bec! I'd like to thank Chris Hatton for the beautiful tattoo that will be with me for the rest of my life, and whenever I look at it, it will remind me of the amazing times I had when I was young, and will be a nice memory of the lovely people who are close to me. Not forgetting my Nan, who was a wonderful lady, who I miss very much.
Today, I went to see my gorgeous cousin Rhi as it is her Birthday. We had a lovely lunch with some of my family at the Glendale, which, as always, was truly scrumptious. Nothing beats Spaghetti Carbonara. Yum!
Tonight is definitely just going to be a quiet night in, with a film and a Tuna Pasta Bake.. (can you tell my life revolves around food?!) What a lovely way to end the week!

Tattoo Troubles...

So Tuesday is approaching, the day of my first tattoo. Am I nervous? Of course not!! (that was a lie!) Ok, I'm getting kind of worried about the pain. will it hurt as bad as people make out? The question I really want to know the answer to though is, why God, why, can't you take painkillers before getting a tattoo?! It's just not fair!
When it comes to the pain aspect of things, a lot of people have said it's like someone scratching your skin over and over. That all sounds well and good but if that really is the case, why do people keep telling me how much a tattoo is going to hurt. They could at least lie to me to make everything sound all nice and flowery. Ok so I'm not a kid, I understand! Just tell me the truth and get it over with. I'll just have a little cry at night thinking about it.
A lot of people have also said "No pain, no gain!" which I think is a great saying because when you want a tattoo as bad as I do, I guess pain is something you just have to put up with. I'm just hoping that the pain isn't as bad as I'm thinking because I've also been told "If you can handle pain well, then you will be fine!" But I honestly couldn't tell you if I can handle pain. Pain is the one thing I try my best to avoid in life. I've never broken a bone, and the pain that has given me the most annoyance in the past has been... paper cuts. How horrible are they?! Everyone who knows me will know that when I get a paper cut, that's all I will talk about all day, amongst random 'ow' noises and the occasional 'oooh it hurts!'
So maybe I'm not good with pain...Let's hope the tattooist will go easy on me, otherwise I will be out of that chair before you can say tattoo, with a nice squiggly line to show my bravery!

Work Experience

So this week, I am doing some work experience at the South Wales Argus. I started off the week being pretty open minded as to what I would be expected to do there, but as the week has unfolded, it has become apparent that I am expected to do more than I thought probable for work experience, which, for me, is fantastic.
Yesterday was my first day at the South Wales Argus in Newport. I arrived at the building and was invited into the newsroom. It was what I would expect from a typical newsroom, lots of phone's ringing, people talking and keybords clicking. The people there are lovely, and I was looked after very well, with members of staff offering me cups of tea every half an hour.
All I could think all day yesterday was, what an amazing job this would be. I am so passionate about becoming a Journalist already, but yesterday made my dream a reality when I was asked to write a feature article about Glastonbury 2011. My article will be published in Friday's issue of the Argus, I think. How exciting.
When I had finished my article, I was asked to go out with the photographer which was so much fun. We drove around Newport town centre taking pictures for articles, and I even had to pose for an article on the rise in student fees at Newport University.
Me, pretending to read a book.

So today brought as many surprises as yesterday, if not more. I arrived at the office  and patiently waited to be given another article to write. I was handed a digital camera, a notepad and a pen, and was told to venture out on my own to interview the students of Newport University about their thoughts on Glastonbury. I have to say, I enjoy being thrown in at the deep end, as it made my day that much more enjoyable, even if I did get back to the office an hour late because I got lost. Typical me. I hope tomorrow will bring more excitement, because I am thoroughly enjoying my stay at The South Wales Argus, and to be honest, I don't want this week to end!

A pleasant Hangover or a Hangover from hell?

Lately, I've heard a lot of people talking about Hangover Part II. Some people have a lot of positive things to say about it, but to be honest, I've heard more negatives, but that may be because I'm looking for them!
I wasn't the biggest fan of the first Hangover. I found it amusing, and the chinese guy was hilarious, there is no doubting that. However, to me, it seemed slightly repetitive and predictable. I won't say I didn't enjoy it though, because I would be telling porkies. I know many people who loved the first film and I don't blame them. It is nice when a comedy film is actually funny, unline most of the  films released these days, which turn out to be total let downs.
The Hangover part II is set to break $125 Million at the box office, which isn't surprising. The first Hangover was an impressive comedy, but is it really necessary to make another one? From what I have seen, the second Hangover follows pretty much the same storyline as the first, which makes it more predictable than the first, which to me, would be unbearable.
Of course, a group of men getting ridiculously drunk and dealing with the consequences of their actions the next morning is amusing, but the same storyline in a different country, really?
I am planning on seeing the second one, and may have to eat my words if it's as good as most people are saying. Am I just a miserable grinch? Or should they be packing their bags and heading back home?

Maxi's galore!

I've got a confession to make. I've become a bit of a shop-a-holic lately! The only problem is, I find it hard to find clothes that fit me, mainly because I lack in height! Whenever I order clothes from a website, they are without fail, too big or too long! However, I do have my lovely mother, who is able to take up just about everything! So my short legs will not stop me from buying these gorgeous dresses I have seen online.

I fancied a nice casual maxi for my holiday, you know, one you can wear on the beach but also on those lovely summer nights. I think this one is just perfect...
You can buy this one from your local Dorothy Perkins. The colours are just fabulous and how lovely would this look with a pair of black sandals?

Another dress I have my eye on is one from Miss Selfridge...
A little more dressy, but still quite casual. This dress is just stunning! I am so excited to add this to my wardrobe!
The previous dress, however, has strong competition with another gorgeous Maxi from Miss Selfridge also...
The flower detail down the middle of the dress would be oh so flattering. I think this one is a must have!
Let me know what you think, do you have any gorgeous Maxi's on your mind? I definitely do...I just hope my suitcase is big enough!

The Blues...

So this morning, I woke up at roughly ten o'clock. I went downstairs, made some breakfast and snuggled up on my sofa to watch my morning fix of Jeremy Kyle. The next thing I knew, I was opening my eyes and thinking, what just happened? Typically, after a twelve hour sleep, I had fallen asleep, yet again. While wiping the dribble from my face, (attractive, I know) I realised that I had not only missed the whole of Jeremy Kyle, I had missed This Morning too (to some people, this might not sound that bad, but for me, this is pretty much the end of the world.)
So that is what I call a waste of a morning, when I could have been filling my head with such useful informaton from highly intellectual programmes, I was dreaming of sheep and creating dribble. Let's hope tomorrow is a little more productive, eh?
